Satin TPU colour-change wrap sits between gloss and matte: a soft sheen at roughly 25–35 gloss units that keeps colour depth without mirror reflections. Shimao supplies satin black, silver, grey and blue in 6–8 mil self-healing TPU, 1.52 m rolls, one-roll minimum.
What is the difference between satin and matte wrap?
Matte lands near 5–15 gloss units and reads as flat paint; satin sits at roughly 25–35 and keeps a soft highlight along body lines. Satin shows curves better, matte hides imperfect bodywork better. Both are non-reflective enough to avoid the mirror-like glare of gloss film, and both need the same wax-free care.
Does satin TPU show fingerprints?
Less than gloss but more than matte: the semi-sheen catches handling marks around door handles and the fuel cap. A quick wipe with a microfibre and pH-neutral detailer removes them. Installers should wear nitrile gloves, because skin oils sit on satin until washed and can look like a smear in showroom lighting.
How long does satin TPU last?
5–7 years on vertical panels and 4–5 years on a sun-facing roof, similar to gloss TPU because the film construction and 6–8 mil thickness are the same. The finish can turn slightly more matte with age as the top coat oxidises, which is normal. Store rolls flat, out of direct sun, below 30 °C.
